Sherwood Park is closely located to the east side of Edmonton, west of Highway 21 and north of Highway 630 and is officially designated as an ‘urban service area’; however, the Province of Alberta recognizes the area as equivalent to a city for the purposes of service and program delivery. Population count in 2012 was 65,465; making it Alberta's seventh largest city.

Sherwood Park has a strong and vibrant economy with over $9 billion worth of major projects completed, announced, or under construction. A district known as Refinery Row is on the west side and includes some of the largest industrial facilities in western Canada.

The Sherwood Park Crusader hockey team brings the community together sporting-wise yet baseball has become a very popular too, especially the Sherwood Park Dukes.

Due to the community's close proximity to Edmonton, Sherwood Park shares Edmonton’s major media newspapers, radio, and television. With all it offers, including all Edmonton itself offers, Sherwood Park is a great place to live and raise a family.
